The Midshire Ramble

On Sunday 3rd March eighteen employees of national managed print service provider Midshire and their families took part in the ‘Midshire Ramble’, a walk around Kinder Scout to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

The first official fundraising event in Midshire’s 2019 calendar, the Ramble saw participants climb 332 metres and walk 10 kilometres around the moorland plateau and National Nature Reserve in Derbyshire’s Peak District.

With everyone making a small donation to take part, all proceeds were raised for the British Heart Foundation, Midshire’s partner charity for 2019.

Technology Sales Manager at Midshire, Stuart Carruthers said: “The British Heart Foundation is an instrumental figure in the fight against heart related illnesses. Midshire’s staff understand how important they are, and they do everything they can to support them in that fight.”

Sadly 30,000 people experience cardiac arrest outside the relative safety of hospital in the UK each year, and tragically only 1 in 10 survive.

When describing the walk, Stuart added:“I think I read somewhere that Kinder Scout is the highest point in the Peak District so it was quite challenging, especially because I brought my two children, one of whom I carried the entire way on my back!”

Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation, Natalie Bunyan commented:“I’m always so inspired when Midshire get involved in our fundraising, they come up with unique ideas and really put their all into it, which is exactly the kind of enthusiasm we need in our fight to end heart break forever.”

Previous initiatives for the BHF have included a ‘Red Breakfast’ event, raising over £1,200 at the Wilmslow Festive 10k, and the gruelling ‘Midshire on Tour’, a coast-to-coast-and-back 290-mile static bike ride, which raised an astounding £2,844.

The next exciting fundraiser will be an 18-hole golf day at Sale Golf Club on Friday 10thMay. Contact Stuart Carruthers to enter your team: stuart@midshireitservices.co.uk
