Midshire raises over £1,000 for Movember 2013

Posted on

Back in November, nine of the Midshire men grew moustaches for Movember to raise both funds and awareness for prostate & testicular cancer and mental health.

Chris Warburton and the Midshire “Ron Burgundy Wannabes” grew their moustaches for the 30-days of November, raising £1,020 for Movember.

Chris says “I lost my mum to cancer 36 years ago and 2 years ago my brother developed bowel cancer, and subsequently needed surgery. I have a mutated gene called FAPS, which means I have near 100% chance of developing bowel cancer unless I have surgery.  To have raised over £1,000 is fantastic, and I’d like to thank everyone who supported the Movember appeal through growing a moustache or donating to our page”.

The midshire ladies, not wanting to be left out, donned some rather fetching stick-on moustaches to help support the men for an afternoon.

Movember is a global movement. With its origins in Melbourne, Australia, it began in 2003 and is now an annual event across 21 countries.

In 2012, the UK campaign raised £27million with 82% of all money raised going directly to the mens health programmes.
