Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Virtual desktop infrastructure, or VDI, refers to the process of running a user desktop inside a virtual machine that lives on a server in the data centre. Virtual desktop infrastructure is a powerful form of desktop virtualization as it enables fully personalised desktops for each user, with all the security and simplicity that comes with being centrally managed.
By installing this virtualization in place of a more traditional operating system, network administrators can provide end users with ‘access anywhere’ capabilities and a familiar desktop experience, while simultaneously heightening data security throughout the organisation.
Our virtual desktop infrastructure is Citrix based. Offering significantly more features and an enhanced user experience, the Citrix platform provides increased compatibility and device support, superior peripheral support and enhanced bandwidth optimisation for poorer internet connections.
In order to run the hosted virtual desktop, you will need to download and install the free Citrix Receiver Software on the device(s) you wish to use, either before, or on your initial log on. This applies to both Windows based PCs, laptops, and android devices as well as Apple Macbooks and iPhone. This will then present each user with the logon screen to access the virtual desktop.
Customers no longer have to take a one-size-fits-all approach to desktop virtualization. The Citrix desktop virtualization portfolio enables businesses of all sizes to experience the right type of virtual desktop for every user, every time.
